MPEG 111, Geneva

MPEG 106 Geneva 480x270Zetacast participated in the 111th meeting of MPEG, held from 16 to 20 February 2015 in Geneva.

This MPEG meeting issued a Call for Evidence to investigate the potential for tools that could improve the performance of High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) for video content with high dynamic range.

There are three possible categories of response to the Call for Evidence:
1. Non-backward compatible single layer coding
2. Backward compatible dual layer coding
3. Encoder optimization and signalling
The responses will be evaluated at the next MPEG meeting, to be held in Warsaw in June.

MPEG is the Moving Picture Experts Group of ISO/IEC, more formally designated ISO/IEC JTC1/SC29/WG11, which has been developing various standards for the coded representation of video, audio and related data since 1988.
